British values week workshops for schools– great ideas to teach and learn about British values

To whom it may concern:

If you are a school that is involved with British values KS2 activities or any other citizenship related project?

Former Prime Minister, David Cameron writing in the Mail on Sunday wrote:

‘The values I’m talking about – a belief in freedom, tolerance of others, accepting personal and social responsibility, respecting and upholding the rule of law – are the things we should try to live by every day. To me they’re as British as the Union Flag, as football, as fish and chips. Of course, people will say that these values are vital to other people in other countries. And, of course, they’re right. But what sets Britain apart are the traditions and history that anchors them and allows them to continue to flourish and develop’.

The definition of British values in the 2011 Prevent Strategy is as follows:

• Democracy
• The rule of law
• Individual liberty
• Mutual respect
• Tolerance of other faiths and beliefs

These workshops are delivered to primary schools, special schools, secondary schools and independent schools and other children’s organisations and charities.

Our artists (DBS checked and liability insured) travel to and deliver British values workshops at your school or venue!

Many modern schools are multi-language, multi-cultural and multi-faith. Our workshops encourage participants to explore and share their values and beliefs as well as learn about others.

Rapping and music production workshops

We embody British values in workshops that are fun, cool and popular. Children enjoy and engage with our workshops.

What we do!

We come into the school and deliver a rapping or rap with music production workshop. Concentrating on a predetermined key area of British values, our artist does a free style rap and word game based on the said aspect.

The participants are taught how to construct a rap. They then, as individuals or in groups, with the help of the artist construct their own rap or song based on an area of British values (can be one area or several).

The children then practise these raps and perfect them with the help of our artist. The session ends with the groups or individuals performing these raps amplified and with a microphone and accompanying beats.
This session can be extended to several weekly sessions culminating in a compilation CD of completed tracks relating to aspects of British values.

As well as music production, we can also film the raps or do a drama version and create a short film.

We may embody facts about the Royal Family, parliamentary system and democracy (rights to vote), tolerance of difference (colour, religion, ethnicity, and gender), diversity and British values.

WORKSHOP CHARGES – OUR FEES

Based on delivery to class sized groups for schools!
• Full Day workshop fee / 4hrs (£315.00 per artist/ practitioner) – this is the most cost effective and would normally consist of 2hrs on floor time in the morning and 2hrs in the afternoon or afternoon and evening (total = 4hrs 4 x 1hour sessions – that is delivering to 4 groups of 20+ per day).
• Half Day workshop fee / 2hrs (£195.00 per artist / practitioner) – this most typical length workshop would normally consist 2hrs hours/on floor time in the morning or the afternoon
• One and a Half Hour workshop fee / 1 ½ hrs (£165.00 per artist / practitioner) – this would consist of 1 ½hrs/on floor time in the morning, afternoon or evening.
• One Hour Taster session fee / 1hr (£135.00 per artist/practitioner) – we do offer 1 hour taster sessions in selected fields only.
• There is also a small 4% administration fee with all our commissions (& travel subsidy and/or material costs where necessary). We do not charge VAT!

Please call us or contact us through our booking form for a no-obligation quote!

Also note:

Nugent Education offers value for money workshops and activities. Full day workshops are more cost effective as artists’ can then deliver up to four one hour workshops to separate groups.

We facilitate and organise workshops and activities that cover a wide-variety of specifications, length of programme, number of artists required, and aims and objectives! Costs, therefore, can vary accordingly. We are, however, not inflexible pricing up for larger projects!
Workshops may run from a one off workshop, to a full six or twelve week programme (for example).

Nugent Education Ltd provide workshops throughout the year, in the evenings, at weekends and bank-holidays, so why not give us a go? Also, we will not charge for waiting time between sessions. Some Artists do require travelling expenses, which are subject to a scale of charges, made clear at the time of booking. For individual and group sessions, our charges may also vary slightly.

The company does its best to ensure that all our activities are monitored and evaluated. Reflective practice leads to continual improvement. In all, great value for money, first class provision.
